My “Revision: Atefeh`s Labyrinths” collection aims to create an experience of both spacelessness and timelessness. For that purpose, I developed a structure that consists of a combination of several cubes resembling Iranian architectural spaces. To my audience’s surprise, the cube (conventionally known as a symbol of stability) is suspended while its surfaces that are forming imagined spaces have no thickness. Like a sheet of paper, they have only one dimension that can be separated from, or even placed next to, each other. This collection invites the audience to face a space that is indeed broken by darkness, light, and perspective in order to help reimagine the past.
